The shields in the upper flanks represent the two families that formed the lineage of the Chagas: the Fontes family (Blue shield with fleur-de-lis) and the Aragão family (Bicolor shield). The shape of the shield and pavilion also represent the third family that composed the Chagas from Morada Nova, the Matos family.
